We are extremely pleased to announce that the Tibet Fest in Vancouver (July 11,2010), co- hosted by the Tsengdok Monastery Association and the Tibetan Cultural Society of B.C.was incredibly successful. This is due mainly to all the volunteers, sponsors, donors and organizations that participated so enthusiastically.
Well over a thousand people attended this event and we anticipate that the total amount of money raised will be just under nineteen thousand dollars. The majority of the money collected has already been sent and received by Machik Canada. 100% of all the money raised at the Tibet Fest will be used for the Jyekundo earthquake relief and rebuilding efforts
Our thanks go out to all the people who participated in this event whether by volunteering, assisting or attending this event.
The people of Yushu/Jyekundo still need our help in reconstructing their lives and livelihoods. Please continue to support this effort in whatever way that you are able. In Canada you can send your donations to:
https://www.canadahelps.org/DonationDetails.aspx
Please check back within a year for the next TIBET FEST.
On April 14, 2010, a devastating 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit the Tibetan area of Jyekundo in Kham, also known as Yushu in Qinghai Province. According to the Xinhua News Agency, there are 2,220 people confirmed dead, 70 missing, and 12,135 injured of which 1,434 are severely injured. It is estimated that 80% of Tibetan homes were destroyed. For information on the Yushu earthquake and how you can help: www.rebuildyushu.org.
In response to the earthquake and the tremendous suffering it has caused, Tsengdok Monastery Association is planning to provide long term support to contribute to the rebuilding of Yushu.
Co-hosting with the Tibetan Cultural Society of BC, Tsengdok Monastery Association will host Tibet Fest in Vancouver, BC, Canada to raise funds for the Rebuild Yushu project on July 11, 2010.
This is a one-day Tibetan cultural and arts event. It will demonstrate Tibetan Thangka painting, sacred sand mandala art, and beautiful butter sculpture. You will also enjoy Tibetan food, arts, music, dance and movies. Come with your family and your friends to join us for a day of fun events.
